Warren County woman sentenced to prison in connection with love triangle shooting

A woman convicted of attempted murder, felonious assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting in 2025 was sentenced Thursday, according to Judge Robert Peeler with the Warren County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Peeler sentenced Olivia Clendenin to 16 to 20 years in jail.

According to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell, Clendenin’s husband and boyfriend were attending a party at a residence on Dearth Road in Clearcreek Township. Clendenin discovered that the men knew they were both in relationships with her, according to Fornshell.

When Clendenin was unable to persuade her husband to leave the party, she went and returned with a .40 caliber gun, firing eight shots, according to the prosecution.

The male victim, who was not her spouse or lover, was shot in the stomach while sitting on the home’s porch, nearly killing him, according to Fornshell.

“The victim had simply been invited to a New Year’s Eve party and found himself in the middle of Clendenin’s barrage of gunfire,” according to the defense attorney.

“Clendenin may have started 2025 as a free person, but will spend the rest of 2026 and at a minimum the decade thereafter incarcerated for attempted murder at least one of her romantic interests- albeit striking and almost killing an innocent victim,” Fornshell was added.
