An inmate was stabbed and beaten during a fight early Saturday evening at the private prison.
Officers responded around 6:55 p.m. to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center on Hubbard Road, where police said three inmates were involved in a fight. During the altercation, one inmate was stabbed multiple times in the back with a makeshift weapon and repeatedly punched.
Prison staff broke up the fight and administered medical aid before an ambulance transported the injured inmate to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Officials said staff were unable to locate the weapon used in the stabbing.
According to records, the incident marks the 21st stabbing at the prison since 2024 and the fourth reported this year.
