AKRON, Ohio — A 31-year-old man has died, and another person was injured after a shooting Monday night at the Noisy Oyster Pub in Akron.
Officials say the shooting occurred around 8:14 p.m. at 1375 North Portage Path.
Akron police reported that early information suggests the suspect and the victims were inside the bar when an argument broke out between the suspect and one of the victims. The situation eventually escalated into a physical fight, and the suspect then opened fire, hitting both victims.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They transported the 31-year-old man to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where officials pronounced him dead at 8:49 p.m. due to his injuries.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Eric Schaffer of Cuyahoga Falls. Officials determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
A second victim, a 35-year-old man, was also taken to a hospital after being shot in both legs. Police said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Akron police reported that the suspect, 28-year-old Larnell Nealy Jr., fled the scene on foot.
“Officers immediately launched an extensive search of the surrounding area, locating video footage from multiple residences that captured Nealy fleeing. Officers also recovered articles of clothing believed to have been discarded by Nealy during his attempt to evade arrest,” said Akron police.
