Altoona police bust another Philadelphia man with drugs

Another Philadelphia man was sentenced to Blair County Prison after reportedly being discovered with drugs and cash in Altoona.

Benjamin Locke, 32, also known as “Blue,” was arrested on Thursday, May 7, and charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and fleeing.

While on detail, police from the Altoona Police Department and the Blair County Drug Task Force discovered Locke on the 2300 block of 8th Avenue. As a marked patrol car arrived from behind, Locke allegedly removed his rucksack and dumped it in a garbage can before continuing to walk.

Officers made contact with Locke, who claimed denied having a backpack. When an officer approached the garbage bin to recover it, Locke fled on foot.

After a brief chase, Locke was apprehended while shouting “kill me, kill me,” according to police.

A search warrant was issued for the backpack. Inside, investigators discovered 672 grams (1.5 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $60,000 and $7,360 in cash.
