Mississippi resident apprehended after large drug bust in Texas

A Mississippi man was detained on May 8 after a traffic stop in Big Spring resulted in the finding of more than 3 pounds of suspected marijuana, according to police.

A trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety made the stop.

According to officials, Sterling County deputies cooperated with the investigation using a K-9 unit, which detected a locked suitcase inside the truck. Authorities discovered 3.4 pounds of suspected marijuana inside the suitcase.

During the stop, investigators seized around $900 in cash.

The driver, whose name was not published, was apprehended without incident and placed into the Howard County Detention Center.
