Silver Springs man sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to entice minor

A 51-year-old Silver Springs man has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison after trying to meet a young teenager for sex last summer.

United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced Jason Shane Ejmali to 10 years in federal prison, which will be followed by 20 years of supervised release, for the attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing this week, bringing an end to a case in which Ejmali pleaded guilty to a criminal offense on November 19, 2025.

According to court documents and the plea deal, the allegations originate from an online encounter between July 24 and July 26, 2025.

During that time, Ejmali exchanged messages with someone he thought would be prepared to provide him their 13- to 14-year-old foster child so he could engage in sexual activities.

The person speaking with Ejmali was actually an undercover special agent from Homeland Security Investigations.

Unaware of the sting operation, Ejmali openly described the particular types of sexual acts he planned to conduct with the youngster before agreeing to meet the minor at a prearranged location in Marion County.

Ejmali has been held at the Marion County Jail since his arrest, awaiting his sentence hearing.
