Hero steps in to save a child from the water
Fonta Moore was installing a woman’s water heater near Ryan Lake when the homeowner screamed that her child was drowning. Moore rushed out of the basement and saw the 4-year-old boy in the lake, approximately 50 to 75 feet from the the 4-year-old youngster on the lake, about 50 to 75 feet from shore.
Moore quickly went into the river to save the youngster from drowning. All I did was take everything out of my pockets, jump in, and get out to him just as he started to sink,” recalled Fonta Moore, a good Samaritan.
Moore told the youngster to cling on as he swam toward him, saying he was almost there. I was just telling him, “I’m coming, and I’ll be there. “Just hang on. I’m almost there, and when I got there, it was such a relief,” Moore explained.
Moore took the youngster under his arm and swam him safely back to land. Moore’s emotional response to the rescue came after they were both secure. I began to cry a little because I have a young granddaughter, and I would hope and pray that someone would do the same thing I did if I weren’t present or available,” Moore added. “It was just a massive adrenaline rush, and my pulse was thumping pretty quickly, which gave me a really fantastic sensation at the end. I didn’t do it for fame or anything like that. “I just did it because it was the right thing to do,” Moore explained.
First responders arrived at the site and checked on the youngster, who is doing OK.
