Minneapolis gang members gets 10.5 years in prison

A judge sentenced a man to 10.5 years in prison in connection with a federal crackdown on dozens of members of a major Minneapolis gang.

Robert Lesure was found guilty of racketeer-influenced corrupt organization (RICO) conspiracy and conspiracy to supply restricted substances.

According to court filings, Lesure was a prominent drug trafficker for the Highs street gang, trafficking fentanyl near the Broadway and Lyndale crossroads in north Minneapolis.

Prosecutors claim the Highs have “long wreaked havoc” on Minneapolis’ North Side, distributing dangerous drugs and “enforcing their territory” through violence, kidnapping, and murder, including the murders of innocent citizens.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, forty members of the Highs gang were charged during the crackdown. Lesure is the 38th defendant to be convicted.
