A Mississippi driver is facing many charges following a deadly two-vehicle incident on Interstate 55 late Friday night.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened around 11 p.m. on July 17 near LA 442. According to investigators, 27-year-old Brianna L. Hutson of Magnolia, Miss., was traveling southbound when her Kia Carnival went off the road and collided with the rear of a disabled Chevrolet Trailblazer parked on the shoulder with its warning lights on.
Randall P. Belaire, 26, of St. Martinville, was a rear-seat passenger in the Trailblazer who was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. Five other people, including Hutson, were brought to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers observed Hutson showing symptoms of impairment. Following medical clearance, she was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Correctional Facility on charges of vehicular homicide, five counts of vehicular negligent injuring, careless operation, and open container.
