One person was killed and another was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 469 in Fort Wayne.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, just after 1:30 p.m. on August 26, deputies were dispatched to a crash involving a black Jeep and a white van on northbound I-469 near the 25.8-mile marker.
According to early findings, the Jeep driver was going northbound on I-465’s southbound lanes when he collided with a white RAM commercial truck head-on.
The RAM driver was brought to a local hospital in critical condition and eventually confirmed dead. Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep was brought to a nearby hospital in “serious” condition.
Officials say it’s unclear whether alcohol played a role, but the Allen County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the crash.
