Charlotte player scores first top prize of $277,740 in new game

Jennifer Couret of Charlotte purchased a $5 ticket for the $200,000 Taxes Paid scratch-off game and claimed the first $277,740 top prize.

Couret obtained her winning ticket at the QuikTrip located on Central Avenue in Charlotte. The probability of securing this prize stands at 1 in 1.69 million.

She presented herself at lottery headquarters on Wednesday to collect her winnings. Following state and federal tax deductions, Couret received a net payout of $200,000.

The $200,000 Taxes Paid scratch-off game launched earlier this month, featuring three top prizes of $277,740. Two of these prizes remain unclaimed.

Mecklenburg County benefited from state funding exceeding $60 million last year to support educational programs.
