A teenage teenager died after being discovered with critical injuries on a San Tan Valley roadway on Thursday night, authorities said Friday.
Deputies rushed to Murray Gray Drive, near Gary Road and Empire Boulevard, for a welfare check at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, and discovered the 16-year-old boy, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
He was evacuated in critical condition to a Valley hospital. According to KTAR News 92.3 FM, evidence suggested that the youngster was hit by a car.
Detectives detained three youngsters for questioning, but they were released pending further investigation.
Authorities discovered that the lads knew one another.
