Homeless woman detained after unwelcome return to pizzeria in Leesburg

A homeless woman was detained after making an unexpected return to a pizzeria in Leesburg.

At 4:15 p.m., a deputy responded to Carmine’s Pizzeria, which is situated at 33202 CR 473 in Leesburg. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest report on Monday over 39-year-old Melinda Dawn Petty’s presence on the property despite being trespassed.

Petty, who had been banned from the property, was observed in the pizzeria’s parking lot, which is currently closed for repairs. She refused to cooperate with the deputy, who then threatened to taser her.

She wanted to take her stuff with her, so an inventory was performed on her property. This revealed a purple wallet with methamphetamine, according to the report.

Petty was arrested on allegations of trespassing after being warned and possessing methamphetamine. She was booked into the Lake County Jail and bond was set at $3,500.

She was previously detained and tased earlier this year, in March, for refusing to leave a Leesburg pub. Prior instances include trespassing at Circle K in March 2025 and a DUI in September 2024.
