Fort Worth, TX — The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth has placed 28 counties across North and Central Texas under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until midnight CDT on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The watch covers major hubs including Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Denton, and Arlington, along with surrounding counties such as Coryell, Navarro, Bosque, and Lampasas. Communities from the Red River down toward the Hill Country, including Gainesville, Waxahachie, Stephenville, Granbury, and Mineral Wells, are all within the watch area.
Forecasters warn that storms moving through this evening may produce large hail, damaging wind gusts over 60 mph, and a few isolated tornadoes. The highest threat is expected during the late evening as a cold front sweeps across North Texas, potentially intensifying the line of storms.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts, as additional warnings could be issued with little notice. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and keep an eye on rapidly changing conditions, especially where strong winds and heavy rain may reduce visibility.
While the watch is scheduled to expire at midnight, forecasters caution that showers and storms may linger into the early morning hours in parts of Central Texas.
