Nashville, TN — A dry, seasonable run is about to give way to a soggy pattern across Middle Tennessee, with the National Weather Service in Nashville calling for widespread rain beginning Sunday and continuing through much of the week. The wet spell should help chip away at ongoing drought conditions across the region.

Rain chances surge to 80–90% on Sunday, with showers likely to linger into Monday and Tuesday. Off-and-on rain remains in the forecast through Thursday. By then, most communities — including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Columbia, and Cookeville — are expected to tally 1 to 2 inches of rainfall, with a few spots potentially picking up a bit more.

Flooding concerns are currently low thanks to the recent dry stretch, and forecasters do not anticipate severe storms. Still, plan for several gray, cool, and damp days in a row, especially through midweek.

Temperatures will trend downward as the week unfolds: highs in the 60s to low 70s this weekend will slide into the low 50s by midweek, running about 5 to 10 degrees below what’s typical for late October.

If you’ll be out and about, keep rain gear handy and allow extra time for wet roads. For daily updates and any forecast changes, check the National Weather Service Nashville page at weather.gov/nashville.
