ATLANTA, Ga. – A tranquil, mild start to the weekend across north Georgia will be short-lived. As Halloween week approaches, a developing Gulf system is poised to pull in moisture and flip the weather script, bringing widespread rain, gusty winds, and a few rumbles of thunder late Sunday into Monday.

The National Weather Service office in Peachtree City expects Saturday to stay warm and mostly sunny, with highs around 70°F and a light easterly breeze ideal for outdoor plans across the metro. Clouds will begin to thicken Saturday night as moisture increases ahead of the incoming storm pattern.

Sunday brings a steady build in cloud cover with spotty light showers possible during the afternoon. After sunset, rain becomes more persistent, setting the stage for a soaking late Sunday night through Monday. Gusts could peak near 25 mph, and ponding is possible on low-lying and poorly drained roads—especially along heavily traveled routes like I-75 and I-285. The Monday morning commute looks slow and slick, with reduced visibility in heavier downpours.

Rain chances fade late Monday night, though a few showers may linger into Tuesday before drier air settles in midweek. Temperatures remain seasonably mild behind the system, with highs in the 60s and nighttime lows in the 40s.

Enjoy the calm while it lasts and keep umbrellas within reach. The next two days should deliver the area’s first substantial rainfall in weeks—a clear sign that autumn’s wetter stretch has arrived.

Five-day outlook for Atlanta:
– Saturday: 70/52 – Sunny to partly sunny; mild with a light breeze.
– Sunday: 66/50 – Increasing clouds; rain develops late.
– Monday: 56/49 – Periods of heavy rain likely; breezy with gusts near 25 mph.
– Tuesday: 57/48 – Mostly cloudy; a few lingering showers.
– Wednesday: 65/45 – Partly sunny; cooler and dry.
