VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The tranquil start to the weekend will be short-lived as a brisk coastal system moves toward the Tidewater early next week. Saturday brings mild sunshine along the oceanfront, but building clouds and a strengthening breeze point to changing conditions for Monday’s drive.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Wakefield say a developing coastal disturbance will skim eastern Virginia from late Sunday into Monday, thickening cloud cover and turning winds out of the northeast. Gusts could reach around 25 mph, especially along I-64, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, and other exposed coastal corridors. Expect damp roads and slower travel during the Monday afternoon commute, particularly near the shoreline.
Temperatures will hover in the low 60s to start the week before sliding into the upper 50s on Tuesday. Light rain may linger through Tuesday morning, with most spots picking up less than a quarter inch. A persistent north wind will add a chill, delivering the first hint of late-fall air by midweek.
Another front may sweep through on Wednesday, sparking scattered showers and keeping conditions breezy, followed by clearing on Thursday. Halloween Friday looks dry but brisk, with trick-or-treat temperatures in the mid-50s—ideal for a light jacket over costumes. Early November is projected to trend cooler overall, with a touch of winter-like chill developing inland.
