FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Before sunrise Saturday, the high country woke to biting cold and glittering frost on the pines—a preview of the pattern settling over northern Arizona through early next week: bright, dry days paired with nippy, frost-prone nights.

The National Weather Service office in Flagstaff expects abundant sunshine and light southwest breezes, with daytime highs holding in the mid to upper 60s and overnight lows slipping into the mid-30s. Patchy frost is likely most mornings, especially across open valleys and forest clearings along I-40 between Williams and Winslow.

Winds should strengthen a bit Sunday and Monday, with afternoon gusts around 20 mph. While rain and snow remain unlikely, the continued dryness keeps fire weather concerns elevated at lower elevations, even as the high country settles into its first true late-October frost cycle. Drivers should be ready for brisk starts and strong sun glare on mountain roads.

A modest warm-up arrives Tuesday and Wednesday with calmer conditions and slightly higher temperatures—ideal for yard work or getting Halloween decorations in place before cooler air noses back in later in the week. Trick-or-treaters on Friday can expect a comfortably cool evening in the 50s under clear skies and light winds.

Early November is poised to turn colder.

Five-day outlook for Flagstaff:
– Saturday: 66/36 — Sunny, light winds, frosty dawn.
– Sunday: 64/35 — Bright and breezy; afternoon gusts near 20 mph.
– Monday: 67/34 — Sunny; mild afternoon, cool night.
– Tuesday: 63/33 — Clear and calm; light early frost possible.
– Wednesday: 65/33 — Sunny with a slight warming trend and gentle breezes.
