Authorities have announced a second arrest in a sexual battery case that took place in Miami Beach earlier this year.
After detaining Geron Gjata earlier this week, Miami Beach police said on Thursday that Frank Christian Sanders had also been brought into custody.
According to an arrest report, the victim informed police that she was out with Gjata, 34, a friend from Chicago whom she had known for several years, at several pubs and clubs on April 2.
Authorities stated the pair ran across Sanders while enjoying their evening, and he invited them all back to his apartment.
The victim informed police that while at Sanders’ flat, the group proceeded to drink beer and use cocaine.
According to police, Sanders woke up the victim while wearing no shirt and someone else’s shorts, and Gjata was asleep on the couch.
According to an arrest record, after experiencing sex-related pain, the victim phoned police and said that the effects she was experiencing were not consistent with cocaine.
Gjata and Sanders visited Miami Beach police headquarters on separate occasions to speak with detectives, though the majority of their interactions were blacked out from their arrest reports.
Sanders, 48, gave a voluntary DNA sample, but Gjata did not.
Both guys were arrested: Gjata on Tuesday and Sanders on Wednesday. According to jail records, both were taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on accusations of sexual battery, which included many perpetrators.
As of Thursday morning, Gjata was still in jail on a $4,000 bond, but Sanders was not listed as an inmate, and his bond information is still unknown.
