Mississippi trio taken into custody in Florida on firearms, narcotics and forgery charges

On Monday, April 27, three Mississippi men were taken into custody in the Florida panhandle on several felony charges. The men were from Brookhaven, Summit, and Hattiesburg.

Just after 11 p.m. on April 27, a Walton County Sheriff’s Office officer stopped a gray Dodge Charger on Interstate 10 near DeFuniak Springs at mile marker 86. The deputy noticed the vehicle failing to stay in its lane, repeatedly touching both the centerline and the right lane’s outer white line before crossing over without using a turn signal.

According to WCSO, the officer immediately smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle and discovered a handgun and a baggie with multiple oxycodone pills.

The occupants of the vehicle were Brookhaven resident Damontre’ Xavion Wilcher, 19, Summit resident Ja’Khyri Zanquell Isaac, 21, and Hattiesburg resident Travien Macabee, 22. All are convicted felons.

A search of the vehicle revealed multiple firearms, including a Glock 17 with an extended magazine; a loaded AR-15 rifle; and ammunition, including green tip steel penetrator rounds, as well as additional narcotics, several cell phones, a large quantity of forged checks and blank check stock, and a printer loaded with both completed and blank checks.

Deputies recovered $76,000 in counterfeit checks, hundreds of other blank check forms consistent with large-scale forgery operations, and a bank receipt worth over $41,000.

Macabee was found to have four active criminal warrants in Alabama and Mississippi, and he was arrested after receiving confirmation from both jurisdictions.

The three males were arrested on several offenses, taken to the Walton County Jail, and each received a $500,000 bail.

Isaac, of Emileagh Drive in Summit, was charged with felony firearm use, tools/paper for forgery/counterfeiting, fraud/swindle to obtain property valued at $50,000 or more, organized dealing in stolen property, bank fraud, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance.

Wilcher, of Fred Walley Drive in Brookhaven, was charged with felony firearm usage, tools/paper for forgery/counterfeiting, fraud/swindle to get property valued at $50,000 or more, organized trading in stolen property, bank fraud, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
