Murielle Miczak, a Brooklyn woman, has pled guilty to embezzling roughly $2.8 million from a local daycare center where she worked as director. Between January 2022 and October 2025, Miczak transferred tuition payments from the daycare account to her personal account, where she spent the money on personal needs such as trips to World Wrestling Entertainment events.
According to court filings, Miczak, 43, used the daycare’s bookkeeping systems to conceal her activities. She faces up to 20 years in prison and has been ordered to pay back the stolen money.
According to U.S. District Attorney Joseph Nocella, “the defendant took advantage of her access to bank accounts for the daycare facility to steal millions in tuition payments in order to line her own pockets.”
The case emphasizes the necessity of monitoring in financial management within businesses. According to Ground News, Miczak’s acts have sparked widespread attention, and she is scheduled to be jailed later this year.
