Maple Heights man found dead from gunshot wound in Cleveland car

Officers found the man shot to death inside a vehicle in the 12100 block of Lenacrave Avenue early Thursday, June 18, on Cleveland’s east side. They responded to the scene about 1:15 a.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire in the area.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 41-year-old Johnny Coleman Scott of Maple Heights.

Investigators marked multiple shell casings and a cellphone in the roadway as evidence while processing the crime scene Thursday morning.

Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
