A man was apprehended Saturday after police said he escaped in a stolen vehicle and led them on a chase through southern York County.
Donald Cornelious, 54, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was arrested after being tased by an officer during the pursuit.
According to the Southern Regional Police Department, Cornelious was driving a stolen van from Howard County, Maryland. He was spotted driving the van around 11:05 a.m. in the Shrewsbury area.
When police attempted to stop Cornelious, he and a passenger exited the van in a parking lot and fled on foot. They failed to park the van, forcing it to collide with another car, according to authorities.
Cornelious then descended 20 feet into a “thick marsh area.” He was eventually located with the assistance of a drone, helicopter, and K-9 teams.
Cornelious, according to police, had escape warrants from Maryland and had taken off his ankle bracelet. He allegedly also admitted to authorities that he was consuming crack cocaine during the pursuit.
Charges are pending against the vehicle’s passenger, who was sent to a hospital following the pursuit.
Cornelious is accused with agricultural crop destruction, running or attempting to avoid police, receiving stolen property, and various driving crimes, according to his docket.
His preliminary hearing is set on July 17 in York County.
