The West Columbia Police Department (WCPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that took place Friday night.
Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Central Drive in West Columbia about 10:30 p.m. Friday to investigate a reported shooting.
Police say one individual was hurt and transferred to a nearby hospital, where he died.
WCPD believes the gunshot was an isolated occurrence and that there is no threat to the community.
According to the department, detectives are still investigating the incident.
