A former employee of Tap 42 in Aventura was taken into custody on Monday, months after allegedly burglarizing the business, according to police.

According to an arrest report, police were called to the Tap 42 restaurant and bar in Aventura Mall on July 24 in response to a burglary, but the surveillance video was not clear enough to identify the burglar.

During the inquiry, it was found that another burglary took place at the business about 4:45 a.m. on June 12.

Police reported that the thief utilized the same vehicle in both incidents.

According to the arrest report, a woman on the cleaning crew told officers that she spotted Victor Erick Azamar, 24, enter the restaurant on the morning of June 12 and felt it was weird because he had no reason to be there at that time.

According to detectives, surveillance video shows Azamar entering the restaurant and leaving carrying what seems to be a Clase Azul Tequila bottle worth $189.99.

Following an inventory check, the restaurant’s vice president of operations confirmed that a Clase Azul bottle was missing.

According to the investigation, the vehicle visible in the video during both events belongs to Azamar.

It is unknown if anything was taken during the July break-in.

Azamar, of Miami Beach, was detained on Monday and charged with burglary of an occupied house. Police said he exercised his right to remain silent.

Azamar was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Tuesday morning on a $2,500 bond.
