Murder Suspect Arrested in Louisiana After La Marque Shooting

A 28-year-old man has been taken into custody in Louisiana in connection with a January fatal shooting in La Marque.

Officers from the La Marque Police Department rushed to the 100 block of Oak Street on Saturday, January 31, 2026, around 2:45 a.m., after receiving reports of a gunshot. When authorities arrived, they discovered Marques Rosendahl suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

Detectives identified Taryke Jacobs as the suspect after conducting an exhaustive investigation that included many interviews. Probable cause was found, and Jacobs was charged with murder.

Prior to the shooting, investigators discovered Jacobs was involved in an unrelated incident at The Fish Place, situated at 925 FM 1765.

Jacobs is now facing the following charges:

  • Murder (First Degree) – No Bond
  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Second Degree) – No Bond
  • Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor) – $7,500 Bond

The United States Marshals Service detained Jacobs on February 9, 2026, in Louisiana. He was taken to a nearby parish jail and will be extradited to Galveston County Jail.

The La Marque Police Department thanked the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force and the Western District of Louisiana—Lake Charles for their help.

Authorities also expressed their condolences to Marques Rosendahl’s family and close ones while the inquiry continued.
