Anne Arundel County police arrested two individuals from Baltimore after discovering drugs in their car during a traffic stop in Glen Burnie. According to FOX Baltimore, the traffic stop occurred Wednesday night at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Ritchie Highway near E. Ordnance Road, with police enforcement seeing the suspicious conduct before initiating the stop.
Law enforcement identified a Pasadena property as having a connection to narcotics trafficking, which led to the arrest. Detectives noticed a passenger departing the provisionally flagged haven and entering an awaiting vehicle. Police stopped the automobile and chose to search it after determining probable cause. The arrests were carried out by East Arundel County’s Eastern District Strategic Patrol Team. During the search, detectives spotted a front seat passenger throwing an object into the brush, which led to the discovery of a bag of suspected narcotics.
Filched from the woods and the confines of the vehicle were roughly 16.4 grams of crack cocaine, neatly divided into 40 containers, and an additional 4.1 grams of heroin or fentanyl, in the shape of 11 gel caps. Bakari Xavier Evans, 32, the driver, and Brianna Christine Vail, 24, the passenger, were soon arrested. The Bay Net stated that both were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and intent to distribute narcotics.
Following the judicial proceedings, Evans was freed on his recognizance after a February 11 bail hearing, indicating the judges’ cautious assessment of his flight risk or harm to the community. Vail, on the other hand, was not given the same freedom and was ordered to be kept without bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11 in Annapolis District Court.
