The Santa Ana Police Department conducted a “city-wide sweep” last week, resulting in 92 arrests for various felonies and other infractions.
According to the SAPD, 13 people were arrested for felonies, 13 for trespassing on railroad tracks, 76 for misdemeanors, and 10 for “subject pursuant to Proposition 36.”
That is a new state law, approved by voters in 2024, that enhances punishments for some larceny and drug crimes while adding a felony option for eligible offenders.
Last week, SAPD officers investigating an attack with a dangerous weapon executed a search warrant at a house and arrested the prime suspect, a convicted criminal.
Officers discovered he was in possession of a firearm, seized it, and arrested him.
Additionally, patrol police doing a patrol check in the 1400 block of Minnie Street identified a male subject who was a “documented gang member” on active probation.
He escaped, according to police, and was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit. Officers discovered a loaded weapon that the suspect had dumped. He was arrested and charged with multiple felonies.
