A teenager was charged on Monday after a seven-year-old was held at gunpoint for $10 at a South Memphis park on Wednesday night, according to Memphis Police.
Police say a 14-year-old boy has been charged with robbery. They stated that this is still an ongoing investigation.
The victim’s mother requested officers to respond to the 100 block of Vaal Avenue near Castex Street shortly after 10 p.m. According to authorities, Kamari Hardin was walking from Riverview Community Park on Kansas Street with his buddies when he was attacked.
The victim claimed that the suspect, whom he did not know, threw him to the ground and pointed a black revolver at him before reaching into his right pocket, taking two $5 dollars, and fleeing into an open field.
According to a police report, Hardin and a companion were robbed. Kamari and his mother told WREG that two kids they recognized from their area robbed three boys in total.
“I heard someone say don’t do it because he will get his mama. “He still did it,” Kamari explained. “He patted them down first after stealing their money. He pinned me down. He put his knees on my legs, preventing me from moving. He put the gun on my leg, and I was gripping my pocket to protect myself when he yanked my hand out. “He got into my pocket and stole my money.”
“He does not want to leave the porch. “He’s afraid to walk around the neighborhood because he doesn’t know if it will happen to him again,” his mother explained.
Kamari claimed that the adolescent who robbed him tripped him, causing him to tumble to the ground before checking his pockets.
Some questioned why the youngsters were out after dark, but Kamari’s mother said that the community center was just around the corner from her home.
