Three juveniles implicated in suspicious Syracuse fire

SYRACUSE, Ohio – Three juveniles are suspected of causing the fire that burned a house on Water Street on Aug. 21, 2018.
According to a statement from Syracuse Police Department Chief Mony Wood and Syracuse Mayor Eric Cunningham announced that the three suspects have been identified, however, juvenile names are not released. Working on the case have been Sergeant Michael Oliver of the Syracuse Police Department, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Racine Police Department and the State of Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office worked on the suspicious fire investigation.
On Aug. 21, 2018 at 3:43 p.m. fire departments from Syracuse, Racine and Pomeroy along with Meigs EMS were alerted to a structure fire on Water Street in Syracuse. Sgt. Michael Oliver with the help of witnesses on scene gathered information that the fire was suspicious in nature. The Syracuse Fire Chief notified the state fire marshal of the suspicious fire. Sgt. Oliver along with the Fire Marshal’s Office investigator interviewed and identified the suspects. The case now moves to Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney James K. Stanley for review.
