Man faces possible 15 to life in prison for alleged Fentanyl distribution in Dayton

A Dayton man will face further charges for allegedly possessing numerous kilograms of narcotics in a safe.

Ke-Shawn Rivers, 46, also known as “JayZ,” will face additional charges as a result of a superseding indictment for the suspected Fentanyl in the safe. If convicted, he faces a required minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in jail.

According to the court filings, Rivers distributed fentanyl on several occasions between September 2025 and January 2026.

On March 11, law enforcement executed a search warrant. They seized drugs, a gun, and a safe. Officials say the safe included the following:

  • A drug cutting agent.
  • An additional firearm.
  • Bulk amounts of cash.
  • Multiple kilograms of suspected Fentanyl and cocaine

His original indictment charged him with 13 counts of supplying Fentanyl, a federal offense punishable by up to 20 years in jail. He is still fighting these charges.

The latest charges relate to the alleged:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute (over 400 grams of Fentanyl and over 500 grams of cocaine).
  • Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime (drug trafficking).
  • Illegal possession of a firearm (convicted felon).

The charges were announced by:

  • United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Dominick S. Gerace II.
  • Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Jared Murphey.
  • U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) HSI Detroit.
  • Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.
  • Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck.
  • Multiple members of the Regional Area Narcotics and Gun Enforcement Task Force (RANGE).

In this case, Assistant US Attorney Amy M. Smith and Special Assistant US Attorney Kelly Collins represent the United States.
