Former Cincinnati property manager indicted for stealing $40K in rent payments

A former property manager has been charged with stealing almost $40,000 in rent from tenants in Hamilton County apartment complexes.

Prosecutor Connie Pillich said that a Hamilton County grand jury indicted Bridgette Morris, 48, of Springfield Township, on charges of theft, unlawful use of property, record tampering, and telecommunications fraud.

Investigators claim Morris took rent payments from renters while working for Wallick Communities and placed the funds in personal bank accounts rather than transferring them to property owners.

According to authorities, the alleged fraud took place between September 2023 and June 2025 and was discovered after tenants got warnings alleging they were late on rent despite having completed payments.

According to the indictment, police investigated rental records, cheques, and bank account information and discovered that nearly $40,000 had been misappropriated.

The alleged theft impacted tenants in Judson Jerusalem Meadows in Oakley, Judson Terrace in Westwood, and Woodview Apartments in Westwood.

Wallick Communities credited impacted residents’ payments and made them financially whole, according to authorities.

“Tenants should never have to fear losing their housing because someone entrusted with managing their rent payments chose greed ahead of their responsibilities,” Pillich added. “These allegations are a serious breach of trust that affected residents and created unnecessary hardship.”
