A 64-year-old woman received a 12-year sentence after authorities said she ran a crack cocaine distribution business out of a Lawrenceburg hotel, supplying as many as 20 people a day.
Teresa R. Todd pleaded guilty to dealing in cocaine, a Level 4 felony. Judge F. Aaron Negangard sentenced her Sept. 1 to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, followed by two years of supervised probation.
Todd’s negotiated plea agreement allowed for a maximum 10-year prison term.
According to the court’s sentencing order, Todd ran a street-level crack cocaine business from her room at the Quality Inn. Authorities said she made near-daily trips to Cincinnati to obtain larger quantities of cocaine, then divided the drugs into smaller amounts for resale.
The court found that Todd supplied crack cocaine to as many as 20 people per day and that the operation ran for weeks or longer.
Todd operated the drug business with her adult daughter, Autumn Todd, according to the sentencing order. The two shared lodging, and prosecutors said Autumn Todd sometimes distributed drugs in her mother’s place.
The court also cited Teresa Todd’s criminal history, which spans approximately 38 years and includes previous offenses involving cocaine, forgery and fraud.
“This was a sustained drug-trafficking operation that supplied crack cocaine to numerous people on a daily basis,” Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens said. “Todd’s extensive criminal history, the scale of her dealing operation, and her repeated failures under supervision warranted a substantial executed sentence.”
Todd received credit for 459 days already served, along with 153 days of good-time credit.
She will serve two years of supervised probation following her release.
