Two 14-Year-Old Boys Injured in Front Porch Shooting at Akron Home

CLEVELAND — Two teenage boys suffered injuries that authorities believe are not life-threatening after someone shot them Friday while they were sitting on the front porch of an Akron home, police said.

According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded just before 6 p.m. to the area of West Salome Avenue near Carlysle Street, where they found two 14-year-old boys inside a home with gunshot wounds. One teen, shot in the chest, was discovered near the front door, while the second victim was in the living room with a gunshot wound to the pelvic area, police said.

Paramedics transported both boys to a hospital, where they are expected to recover from their injuries.

Investigators collected multiple shell casings and determined the shooting happened on the home’s front porch.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a white sedan.

“Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the community,” the police department said. “The investigation remains ongoing.”
