Two teenagers were detained Wednesday morning, a day after a dispute and gunshots broke out inside a Hialeah residential complex, authorities reported.
According to Hialeah police, the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Aquabella subdivision near Northwest 91st Avenue and 170th Street.
Hialeah police officers and Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene.
Police said they discovered that numerous individuals gathered at the spot for a “pre-arranged physical fight” to “resolve an ongoing dispute.”
“During the confrontation, a handgun was produced and multiple shots were fired,” Lt. Eddie Rodriguez told Local 10 in an email Wednesday. “Witness testimony and physical evidence proved that the gunshots were fired at a victim escaping on foot, as well as at an occupied black Chevy Tahoe attempting to flee the scene. “A round struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.”
Rodriguez verified that no one was hurt in the shooting.
He identified the two suspects as 17-year-olds Luis Padilla Delatorre and Michael Isaac Delgado. He said both boys might face anything from 15 to 20 years in prison.
Delatorre and Delgado are both charged with felony attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon/firearm and shooting/throwing a lethal missile.
They were both sent to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
