A former Minnesota State Trooper was sentenced to 27 years in prison for producing and sharing videos of himself sexually abusing a child.
Jeremy Francis Plonski was sentenced on September 8 before U.S. District Judge Kate M. Menendez.
He pled guilty in October 2025.
According to court filings, Plonski created 23 child pornographic recordings between April and October of 2023. In some of the films, Plonski was dressed as a state trooper while sexually abusing a minor victim. He published videos of the abuse on a social media app.
“This defendant swore an oath to protect the public but instead committed one of the most heinous crimes imaginable,” said U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen. “Today’s sentence represents my office’s commitment to protect vulnerable children and the cooperation among federal and local law enforcement.”
The Minnesota State Patrol chief, Col. Christina Bogojevic, stated that no one is above the law. “Protecting the vulnerable is our responsibility,” Bogojevic stated. “Anyone who violates that duty has no place in this organization or in our profession.”
Plonski was discharged by the Minnesota State Patrol.
According to FBI Minneapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson, Plonski violated his oath of protection. “As a law enforcement officer, Mr. Plonski was aware of the terrible harms that victims of these crimes face,” Dotson stated. “While a prison sentence cannot repair the harms these crimes have caused, we hope that today’s outcome will offer the victim and their family the sense of peace, safety, justice, and hope they deserve as they work toward healing.”
According to Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans, Plonski’s badge made the situation even more troubling. “He promised to uphold the law, and he broke it,” Evans added. “We are thankful for this result and that he has been held accountable for his actions.”
The FBI and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated the case, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota handled the case.
Plonski will also serve 15 years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
