A Harris County woman has been charged with first-degree felony theft after investigators believe she stole more than $460,000 from a local firm over two years.
The inquiry began in February 2026, when patrol officers from Montgomery County Constable Ryan Gable’s Office received a complaint from a firm about a former employee suspected of embezzling corporate funds.
Detectives from the criminal examination division conducted a thorough financial examination, which included a study of corporate and banking information.
According to authorities, the former employee allegedly deposited company-issued checks into her personal bank account over a two-year period, resulting in losses totaling over $460,000.
Authorities believe that the cash was spent on luxury apparel, high-end jewelry, expensive dining experiences, overseas travel, and other high-value purchases.
On June 8, 2026, Precinct 3 detectives apprehended Heather Jolaine Surratt, 46, at her Harris County home.
Surratt was charged with theft of property exceeding $300,000, a first-degree felony under Texas law. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and booked without incident.
Authorities stated that her bond was set at $50,000, and she was released from custody after posting bond.
Court documents reveal that Styled Real Estate, LLC, of Spring, filed a lawsuit against Surratt in April 2026. The lawsuit was dropped on June 5 for a lack of prosecution.
The criminal inquiry is ongoing.
